As part of its community outreach, the Sunbury United Methodist Church hosts a number of free events open to the entire community—you don’t have to be a member to participate.

The Community Easter Celebration is for children 12 months old through fifth grade. This free event is held in the church’s multipurpose room and features games, preschool inflatables, and a special appearance from the Easter Bunny. Pictures with the Easter Bunny are provided at no charge and people are welcome to bring their cameras and take photos. Also, an Easter egg hunt takes place outside, rain or shine! Each age group has their own area to hunt for eggs. There are plenty for everyone! Children receive a free goody bag for prizes but are encouraged to bring an Easter basket to gather and hold all their eggs.

Vacation Bible School is usually held in June and is for children three years old (potty trained) through fifth grade. During this five-evening event, children learn Bible lessons, play games, eat snacks, enjoy music, watch puppets, do arts and crafts and fellowship with other young children. There is no charge for Vacation Bible School (VBS).

The Village Harvest Festival takes place in October from 5-8 p.m. and includes games, food, a bonfire, hay ride, pumpkin patch, and smoke house. Goody bags are provided and it is a fun time for the whole family. Roast your own hot dogs and marshmallows and munch on a bag of pop corn. Large and small inflatables are available for everyone to enjoy. We also feature a Trunk or Treat beginning at 7:30. Trunk or Treat is a version of Trick or Treating but instead children will go from car to car in our lower level parking lot outside the multipurpose room. If the weather is bad, most activities are moved into our multipurpose room. This event is also free to the community.

Breakfast with Santa is held the first Saturday of December from 9–11 a.m. and gives families a place to affirm their Christian teachings while celebrating Christmas in a fun, festive atmosphere. The goal of Breakfast with Santa is to touch hearts with a generous, abundant message of God's love. The morning includes the secular Christmas of Santa with the real reason for the season—the story of Christ's birth.

Each family receives a visit and professional photograph with Santa taken by Todd Yarrington Photography. Visit our puppet show, model train display and play Reindeer Games throughout the church.

Guests can enjoy continental breakfast featuring cinnamon biscuits, Christmas goodies, milk, juice and hot Tim Hortons coffee.

The decorations are designed to delight the little ones, and the church is full of merry surprises.

Let the one who serves serve in the strength which God supplies that in everything God may get the glory through Jesus Christ.
