This class is ideal for beginner and seasoned yoga students. It will focus on learning a series of poses to form the foundation of a personal practice. Time will be spent each week learning basic poses and modifications. Class will begin with centering, followed by gentle stretching, progress to deeper, more challenging poses, and conclude with a quiet rest time. You will come away feeling refreshed and ready for the day. Yoga stretches improve circulation, muscle tone, joint and muscle flexibiblity and balance. Christian Yoga differs from traditional yoga in its intention. Christians believe our bodies are a gift from God, and the temple of the Holy Spirit. Christian Yoga is offered as a way to be grateful for our miraculous bodies. Throughout the stretching and stress relieving poses we are honoring God. At the rest portion at the end of each class there is time for silent, personal prayer. Instead of clearing the mind of all thought, we are encouraged to fill our hearts and minds with the peace of Christ. Instructor: Jodie Brown Wednesdays 9:15-10:15 a.m. Cost: $5 per class

has been practicing yoga for over 10 years. She completed a 200 hour yoga teacher training in 2005 and her 500 hour advanced teacher training at Yoga on High in Columbus this year. Jodie's household is lively - with her husband, two energetic children and three dogs, one cat, one bird and a hamster. Jodie is a former English instructor turned full-time mom and part-time yoga teacher. She believes yoga gives her time and space to slow down, care for herself physically, and be present to the gift of life. Jodie finds her faith journey deeper when consciously honoring God through yoga. She hopes that people will find joy in their bodies (we are wonderfully made!), quietness of mind (our brains need rest, too!) and come away from class with an inner sense of peacefulness.
