Our prayer ministry provides many opportunities for you to serve God through prayer - for the church, for others, and for yourself.  If you are interested in serving with us, please see one of the parts of prayer ministry that appeals to you.

Weekly Prayer Meetings

The Weekly Prayer Meeting happens every Monday morning 9:00 - 9:30  in the sanctuary and every Wednesday evening at 7:30 in the Prayer Room. Join us as we lift our prayer concerns, church ministres, community and the world in prayer.

Prayer Walkers

is a ministry of about a dozen people who walk through the sanctuary and then throughout the church building praying for all the ministries, groups and individuals who will use the church building during the coming week. They pray over the pews, the music equipment, pulpit, and at each door throughout the building to lift in prayer whomever will enter that room during the week asking that all who enter our building may be blessed by God.

Prayer Labyrinth

The Prayer Labyrinth comes to Sunbury United Methodist Church for individuals to walk each year on Good Friday. The labyrinth is a path we walk in prayer and reflection. It symbolizes the inward journey with Christ and the outward journey to ministry.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

The SUMC Prayer Shawl Ministry knits and crochets prayer shawls and lap robes. They are to be given to anyone in need of comfort, spiritual support, or for a joyous occasion, to remind them of the warmth of God's love and the presence of prayer. The prayer shawls and lap robes are prayed over as they are made and again on the altar during a worship service. They are then placed in the SUMC Prayer Room and are available to anyone.

Knitters and Crocheters Wanted! No experience or equipment necessary! We meet every Wednesday at 6:30-7:30 pm in the Church Parlor. Come join us for fun and fellowship while we work on our projects.

Donations of yarn are also appreciated.

Quilting Ministry

Our Quilting Ministry meets on the first and third Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m. Quilts are made with love for our Prayer Shawl ministry, the Worthington Children's Home, Flatrock Children's Home, and Central Ohio House of Hope. No experience is needed.
