THE SUNBURY UNITED METHODIST VISION

God has given us a vision, a dream of what we can become. It is a vision that takes beyond ourselves and makes us fully devoted disciples of Jesus Christ.

1) It is a dream for a place of acceptance, where very diverse people come together and minister to each others hurts, frustrations, and confusion with love, joy, patience, guidance, and encouragement.

2) It is a dream of relying on the Holy Spirit, harnessing the gifts of people for ministry and enabling them to use them, and making decisions based on our drive and purpose rather than personal preference and comfort.

3) It is a dream of sharing the good news of Jesus Christ and equipping each person among us to do so, with a readiness for the possibilities for ministry God sets before us, a responsiveness to the population growth of Delaware County, and a willingness to live, laugh, and learn along the way.

4) It is a dream of helping people mature and grow in their relationship with God and their understanding of the scriptures, discover their spiritual gifts and natural abilities, and apply them in a significant ministry of Christian service and mission in the church and in the world.

5) It is a dream of being venturesome and creative, "big-group-minded" in terms of mission and sense of inclusiveness and "small-group-minded" in terms of fellowship and sense of family, contemporary in style and appeal yet sound in practice.

6) It is a dream of moving boldly in ministry over the next decade, becoming a powerful and wonderful regional church enabling both new residents and the un-churched to find a place of ministry and growth
