Women

United Methodist Women (UMW)

Sunbury UMW is made up of four circles that meet monthly for fellowship, a program and sometimes food. They work throughout the church, community and world in many ways to help those in need through their prayers and giving. These Circles meet year-round.

Our fall gathering is usually the first Thursday in October at 7:00 p.m. You do not need to be a member of a circle to attend. We have devotions and snacks.

Our Christmas gathering and gift exchange program is usually the first Thursday in December.

Our Spring Brunch gathering is for all women and is held one Saturday in April. Any woman in the Sunbury United Methodist Church is welcome to attend these gatherings and we extend an invitation to you to come and study, fellowship with us and meet new friends.

In May, we have an All Daughters' Banquet where all women, young ladies and girls are celebrated.  We enjoy fellowship, a program and a wonderful meal cooked and served by the men of our church,

Our Circles, meeting times, and activities are listed below. Contact the leaders through the church office at 740-965-3813.

Esther Circle

is our newest circle and meets the third Tuesday of the month in the Parlor at 10:00 a.m. for study and fellowship.

Rachel Circle

meets on the 4th Sunday of the month at 11:00 a.m. Child care is provided, since many of the members have young children. The meetings include Bible discussions, fellowship, and snacks. The missions fundraisers include an annual bake sale at Thanksgiving.

Rebecca Rose Circle

meets on the 4th Thursday of the month @ 7:00 for an evening of study, fun fellowship, and food. The programs are related to Bible studies through either books or selected studies. Each month one of the members is responsible for the program relating to the study. June is field trip month and July is dinner out.

Ruth Circle

meets on the 2nd Thursday of the month @ 1:00 p.m. The group enjoys a variety of different programs with member presentations or presenters from outside. Ruth Circle has a potluck in November and dinner out in the spring. Their mission focus is Big Walnut Friends Who Share, gathering necessities for children about 6 times per year.

UMW Reading Program

All women are welcome to participate in the UMW Reading Program. Read on your own timetable throughout the year. Contact the church office at 740-965-3813 for program details.
